Paul "Semtex" Daley and Dean Amasinger training Luta Livre at Kaobon.

The UFC fighter Paul "Semtex" Daley and the TUF member Dean Amasinger have been at Team Kaobon this week to learn Luta Livre. They had some privates with Brigadeiro and been in the Luta Livre classes rolling with Brigadeiro, Terry Etim, Mark Scanlon, Stapes and others. The Luta Livre training was part of their preparation to the next fights. Daley faces Brian Foster in the UFC 103 (September 19th) while Amasinger fights Jansen at the Ultimate Challenge (October 24th). "Thanks to Marcelo, Colin and the team, definatly will be making more trips up to the Kaobon gym." said Daley. "I also want to say thanks to Brigadeiro and Colin for their help and Hospitality. Also to the other lads at the gym like Terry and Scanno, you were a big help and I'll be back up again before my next fight to train." completed Amasinger.

Luta Livre and Kaobon are 100% again.

Luta Livre had a great night last saturday (August 8th) when was represented by 4 fighters from Team Kaobon at the Olympian MMA Championship. The first to get in the cage was Pietro Menga. Menga started very agressive, using low and high kicks. After going to the ground Menga managed to get a perfect armbar scoring the first Luta Livre victory at 1:25 of the first round. The second to fight was Uche Ihiekwe. Uche used a great combination of knees forcing Keith Fowles to give up at 3:10 of the first round. Greg Severs was the third Luta Livre fighter in the cage, and after just 1:07 of the first round, Greg scored another victory by submission via guilotine. The last one to represent Luta Livre was Lee Chadwick. Facing the dangerous Shaun Lomas , Lee needed only 0:23 to knock Shaun down with a left hook and submit him with a rear naked choke. Kaobon showed why is being named as one of the best teams in Europe.

Brazilian fighter training Luta Livre at Kaobon.

Franklin Jensen, a BJJ Black Belt and Luta Livre Brown Belt (under Marcelo Brigadeiro), is training Luta Livre everyday at Kaobon. The brazilian came to Liverpool to train Luta Livre for 2 months and is really impressed by the level of the Kaobon guys, "I could never imagine that the guys here would be in such a high level. It's crazy to think that Brigadeiro is here for only 9 months and the fighters are already so good" said the brazilian.

First Luta Livre Tournament in the UK.

Today was an historical day when the first ever Luta Livre tournament happened in the UK at Team Kaobon (Liverpool). Fighters from Team Kaobon, Golden Glory, SUFFA, Bolton Catch Wrestling and SKK Club just showed why Luta Livre is getting so popular in England. They performed great fights and impressed everyone with the technical level of the competition. Greg Severs with 7 victories by submission, Rob Sinclair that defeated Lee Chadwick in an awesome match, Mick Sinclair that won his two fights by guilhotine and Simon Ridgway that at only 14 years old went toe to toe with the big guys made the tournament even more exciting. A great day inded, when we've seen the first British Luta Livre's champions in action.

Besouro scores another submission for Luta Livre.

Luis "Besouro", a Luta Livre Black Belt under Marcio Cromado from RFT Team in Brazil, scored another submission victory to his record yesterday at WOCS 4. Fighting in the Main Event against Rodrigo "Ximbica" (Gracie Barra), "Besouro" scored 2 knockdowns before he could tap Rodrigo, winning via Katagatami. Congratulations "Besouro" and RFT!!!

Terry wins and gets "Submission of the Night" on UFC 99.

A Luta Livre Blue Belt, Terry showed the world how much his ground game has improved yesterday when he scored another win to his record and also got the "Submission of the Night" prize.
UFC official website wrote: "Terry Etim continued to show new facets of his game, rising from a first round knockdown to roar back in the second and submit Justin Buchholz in a clash of lightweight prospects.Buchholz attempted to close the gap on Etim immediately behind some hard kicks to the head and body. Etim took his time, but when he struck, he struck hard, immediately reddening Buchholz’ face. The American was game though, and he kept pushing the pace, eventually dropping Etim with a hard right hand. Buchholz immediately pounced, and though Etim tried for a quick submission, Buchholz wasn’t having it, and he kept firing away, with referee Leon Roberts watching the action closely. But Etim was just as resilient, and eventually he fought his way free and began working on his opponent’s leg. Buchholz soon got up and marked another momentum shift with some hard strikes just before the bell sounded.Etim got back to his measured gameplan in round two, landing with some hard leg kicks that got Buchholz’ attention. And by the stanza’s second minute, Etim was starting to close in with knees and kicks to the head before the fight went to the mat at the midway point. It was there that Etim lowered the boom with a D’arce choke that produced the tap out at 2:38 of the round."

Luta Livre scores another 2 wins!!!

Luta Livre scored 2 wins last night at Cage Gladiators XII. Richie Downes and Jay Manning impressed the crowd fighting "the perfect fight". Very confident in their ground game, both needed less then 20 seconds to take the fight to the ground. After some vicious ground and pound, Richie (Luta Livre Orange Belt) finished the fight with a rear nacked choke while Jay (Luta Livre Yellow Belt) used a kimura. Both won still in the first round. That showed why Team Kaobon is on of the most dangerous mma teams in Europe, putting together an outstanding Thai Boxing game and a very solid ground work provided by Luta Livre.

Luta Livre fighter saves the day.

Rob Broughton, a Luta Livre Blue Belt under Marcelo Brigadeiro, saved the day this morning when Team England faced Team France in the M1 Challenge. Team France scored 4-0 in the first four fights (Lightweight, Welterweight, Middleweight and Light Heavyweight) and it looked like it would be a scary 5-0. But Rob Broughton decided to save the day and after 2:02 of the first round, he scored a win by TKO, after a strong combination of strikes.

Luta Livre fighter gets the Belt at Palace Fighting Championship.

WEC veteran Carlo Prater,a member of RFT Team, was representing Luta Livre yesterday when he defeated Dominique Robinson for the vacant 155-pound strap. Prater earned scores of 49-46 on all three cards in a five-round bout. Carlo dominated the bout from start to finish showing everybody that he has a top ground game and very good takedowns. Congratulations Carlo Prater.

Luta Livre scores another victory in Japan.

Luta Livre was weel represented this morning in the M1 Challenge Japan by Rob Broughton. Rob, a Luta Livre' Blue Belt under Marcelo Brigadeiro got a unanimous decision victory over the japanese Yusuke Kawaguchi, who is considered the best heavyweight of Japan and had a record of 8-0 before this fight. With this victory Team UK scored 4 x 1 against the Japanese Team. Congratulations Rob!!!!

Great performance in Gladiator School IV.

Gladiator School IV had 3 fighters from Team Kaobon and they performed very well. John Hughes, Gregg Severs and Darren Spencer have shown why Team Kaobon is one of the best MMA teams in Europe. John Hughes has shown everybody that he has been learning Luta Livre's techniques after win his fight via rear naked choke at 20 seconds of the first round. Showing a solid Luta Livre game Gregg Severs just needed 45 seconds of fight to win via guillotine choke after a combination of punches and knees. Darren Spencer tried a footlock, a knee bar, a choke and finally won his fight with an arm bar at 2 minutes of the first round.

Terry Etim vs. Justin Buchholz slated for UFC 99 in June.

A lightweight bout between Terry Etim (12-2) and Justin Buchholz (8-2), originally slated for UFC 95 but later canceled when Buchholz suffered an injury, is back on at UFC 99. The show takes place June 13 at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne, Germany. It'll be the country's first-ever UFC event. Etim, who recently signed a new contract with the UFC, returns to competition looking for his third straight UFC win. The British fighter most recently defeated Brian Cobb, a late replacement for Buchholz, via second-round TKO at UFC 95. Prior to that victory, Etim picked up a unanimous-decision victory over UFC veteran Sam Stout. Buchholz, meanwhile, returns from a nearly year-long layoff. After suffering a first-round submission loss to Matt Wiman at UFC Fight Night 12 in his octagon debut, the former EliteXC fighter stopped Corey Hill with a second-round submission victory at UFC 86. Buchholz has now won five of his past six fights, all via stoppage. The Etim-Buchholz bout will likely appear on the night's preliminary card. UFC officials have not decided whether to air UFC 99 on pay per view or Spike TV. Luta Livre's fighter wins at Shooto Brazil 11.

Carlos Alberto "Betão", representing Luta Livre, walked into the ring last saturday (March 28th) at the most important MMA show in Brazil, the Shooto Brazil. "Betão" entertained the fans with a very active fight. In a very evenly-matched fight, "Betão" (RFT Team), who recently fought for the Shooto 60kg title, ended up earning a victory by unanimous decision. He managed good takedowns on Rodolpho Marques (Nova União) and a knockdown in the second round, after throwing a superman punch. After this fight , that got the award as "Fight of the Night", "Betão" has a record of 7-1. Congratulations "Betão" and all the guys from RFT !
